This ceramic clad behemoth was built in 1887 to act as an important water distribution plant for the city. Designed by Swedish Argentine architect and British civil engineer John Bateman, Royal Doulton was commissioned to create 300,000 bespoke ceramic tiles which came numbered and shipped over from England. A museum housed in the basement is dedicated to the history of the water and sanitation industry in Argentina.
