Eastern Market

The market is filled with murals you can’t miss and storefronts you can’t find. Every week new shops and galleries are squeezing in between long-standing slaughterhouses and nut roasters. Some days it’s a ghost town and others find it filled with Lions tailgaters or tractor trailers or a VIP auto event. Having a studio here means at least a couple of times a day we are stumbling outside looking for food or caffeine or fresh air, and these are the places we b-line towards over and over again. Far from a complete directory of cool destinations, but ask anyone at these spots and they’ll know exactly where to send you next.

Dequindre Cut

“The Cut” is an old railroad line that has been converted into a pedestrian park. Local residents come here to power walk and bike commuters use it as a car-free super highway from the riverfront all the way to Mack Ave. There is also a lot of great graffiti and mural work, a mix of commissioned and sneaky stuff.
