West End

To the left of both New and Old Town lies Edinburgh's West End. Originally a privately owned property, William Walker bought the estate in 1800 and began developing it into the hub it is now, with the appropriately named William St. and Walker St. running through the heart of it. This area sees residential, commercial, and office spaces all effortlessly co-existing, surrounded by some of the most picturesque architecture in the city. This quiet area has many independent shops and cafés frequented regularly by both locals and visitors alike. Just steps away from the heart of the city, the West End benefits from being close to the centre, while also enjoying a slightly calmer atmosphere. Come for a stroll through the beautiful neighbourhood streets, stay for a delicious meal in a local café, and prepare to be thoroughly charmed by Edinburgh's memorable West End.

Opened in a former bank at the start of 2016, Café Noir quickly became a local fixture in the West End. As equally popular with business folk looking for a quiet place to work as it is with locals looking for a great cup of coffee, Noir consistently delivers. Try any of their coffees, complete with impressive foam art, and choose from an assortment of very delicious treats. The brownies are particularly delectable and they make one of the nicest matcha lattes in the city.
