Westport

Located between downtown & the Plaza, Westport is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Kansas City. By the mid-1800s, Westport had grown into an outfitting post for pioneers embarking on the Sante Fe & Oregon Trail. Today, it has a reputation for bustling (& rowdy) nightlife, non-chain bars/restaurants & unique shopping. Westport is dense enough that you're better off hitting your favorite spots on foot.

If you're driving along Broadway, you can't miss this place. Westport Ale House is another fairly new addition to Westport. The building is an old 1950s relic & the bar/restaurant covers 5,000 square feet. Still, on game-days, this bar is jam-packed. With 20+ televisions, every seat is a good one. The rooftop patio opens up in the warmer months & is the perfect place to meet friends for happy hour. ($2.50 Boulevard pints + half-price burgers.) The food is traditional bar food: wings, nachos, pretzel bites, & everything else that goes great with a cold beer.
