East Hollywood

Sandwiched between Hollywood and Silverlake, with Ktown sitting below, East Hollywood is a nice mix of hip, glitz, and grime. Holding pockets of Asian and Armenian groups, the food gets the best of everything. East Hollywood is a neighborhood for Angelinos, with tourists usually skipping to either one of it's surrounding areas. Blessed with easy access to mass transit, getting to Downtown is easy. Giving you that rare access to other areas without getting in your car. Having seen some rough times, East Hollywood has been getting lots of love in the past few years which is more than well deserved.

Home to the Hollyhock House, the park and the aforementioned house were the brainchild of Aline Barnsdall and Frank Lloyd Wright (both two individuals worth losing a few hours to on Wikipedia). The park sports some of the best (free) views of the surrounding Los Angeles skyline and is markedly less crowded than the more touristy Griffith Park. While the park is great for a cheap date idea, the house is also worth the price of admission and the occasional event or art exhibit are also worth making time for.
