Ask a sample of Angelenos to locate Hermosa Beach on a map, and you’ll soon realize that it’s one of LA’s best-kept secrets. Tucked between the Pacific Ocean and Pacific Coast Highway, “The Best Little Beach City” averages 325 days of sun a year—no wonder it’s home to professional and Olympic volleyball champions. Always partying and never pretentious, Hermosa Beach is a local escape from traffic, tourism, and faux-trendiness.
Founded in 1979 as a small burger stand in West LA, stop by Good Stuff to get a front-row view of the sand volleyball players and the ocean. This is a great people-watching spot as the flood of tourists and locals alike walk, run, bike, and skateboard down the boardwalk. Good Stuff has plenty of healthy menu options, with a personal favorite being their California Wrap.
