Versova

Originally a small fishing village of the Kolis, Versova has now become an upmarket neighbourhood in the north western part of Mumbai. Keeping true to its history, one can still see the boats of the fishermen from the shores of the beach and every morning a busy fish market can be found towards the northern side where these fishermen sell their catch. Once a part of the Portuguese empire, Versova has now become a quaint and cosy residential area filled with local eateries, cafes and pubs. If visiting local markets, exploring small cafes to eat at, sharing a pint of cold beer with your friends and walking along the beach during sunset constitutes your perfect day then this is the place that you need to be at!

Versova Beach

Versova beach witnessed the world’s largest beach clean-up where more than 4 thousand tons of trash was cleared with the help of hundreds of residents that volunteered for the cause. Now it has become a quaint beach where one can stroll in the evenings and watch the sun set. It’s still not advisable to jump into the waters though!
