Noho

NoHo is a small yet culturally ripe, culinarily bestowed, commercially diverse, historically significant neighborhood, with a whole host of diversions in the few blocks bound by Broadway, the Bowery, Astor Place and Houston Street. Fun fact for art aficionados: Keith Haring painted his first mural on the area’s signature “gallery wall” on the corner of Bowery and Houston. The area today is still just as vibrant.

This niche shop is a must for art lovers as it is the only independent bookstore in the city devoted to photography. In addition to hosting events with photographers like Wolfgang Tillmans and Ari Marcopoulos, Dashwood Books carries titles from all over the world, many of which would be difficult to find anywhere else. The store is short on space but gets by on its carefully selected inventory of signed books, limited editions, and small-run chapbooks.
