Kirkwood is a national historic designated neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta. It’s situated entirely in DeKalb County, bordered by the neighborhoods of Lake Claire to the north, East Lake to the south, Edgewood to the west, and Oakhurst to the east. Once described as an “area of beautiful suburban villas” with streetcars providing express service to and from Atlanta three times daily, Kirkwood is considered very much a part of Atlanta today. Home to a representative mix of Atlanta’s population, every street has a mix of new residents and those with several generations in Kirkwood. Whether you’re enjoying the tree-lined streets, trying the eclectic mix of restaurants or learning about the history, you’re sure to enjoy your time in Kirkwood.
Anna’s, named after a niece and a grandmother, is a place where the diversity of Kirkwood eats together. Come here for traditional, local BBQ like pulled pork, turkey ribs, and banana pudding, and read the walls to see what others have to say about it.
