This wonderful institution runs the risk of going unnoticed on the 3rd floor of Block 37. A successful kickstarter campaign brought the Design Museum of Chicago home to the heart of Chicago after years of operating as an itinerant pop-up exhibition. The organization remains true to its grassroots beginnings and continues to run almost entirely on volunteered time. The gift shop is packed with goods from local design superstars and the openings never disappoint. The Design Museum of Chicago reflects the excitement and curiosity that characterizes the Chicago’s design community—but only on Tuesdays through Saturdays between noon to 7pm.
