Over-the-Rhine

Over-the-Rhine (OTR) is a walkable historic district in Cincinnati, Ohio located just north of downtown. Established by German immigrants in the 1800s, it’s believed to contain the largest collection of 19th-century Italianate architecture in the U.S. Back then it buzzed with 17 breweries and hundreds of saloons; now it’s the center of the region’s independent food and retail scene, with dozens of locally owned restaurants, shops and drinkeries to try.

Can’t decide between a beer garden, a bar and lounge, or sushi? Kaze‘s got it all. This Japanese gastropub and sushi bar, co-owner Jon Zipperstein’s first restaurant in the neighborhood, serves noodle soups, salads, small bites and – of course – sushi. Try their signature rolls or pork belly buns with a Tokio Mule cocktail. Happy hour runs for a generous three hours Tuesday-Thursday (4-7:00 p.m.); Wednesday karaoke nights are also a local favorite.
