Theater Kiel includes the Werftpark theatre, Schauspielhaus, the orchestra, the opera and the ballet. The Opera House was built in the beginning of the 20th century and is located next to the Town Hall in the heart of Kiel. Like many places in Kiel it was destroyed in the second World War and rebuilt in the 1950s, which can still be seen through the interior design. The opera is known for its variety from baroque opera, musicals, classic operettas and experimental music productions.
