Kensal & Queen's Park

A more subdued adaptation of the counter cultural hotspot it was in the 1960s, Kensal Green offers an eclectic mix of leafy suburban sophistication with a young and trendy feel. Once named by Vogue as “the hippest street in Europe”, Chamberlayne Road sits between Queen’s Park and Ladbroke Grove, boasting an array of boutique independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Traditionally a popular reside for those in the media and creative industries, Kensal has seen an influx of a more diverse crowd yet retains a strong community feel.

Spread over 72 acres, Kensal Green Cemetery includes two conservation areas and boasts 33 different species of birds. It opened in 1833 and is home to many large mausoleums in tribute to the rich and famous, such as Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and playwright Harold Pinter. The cemetery offers respite from city life, as well as an interesting juxtaposition of the nearby industrial gas structure with nature.
