La Croix-Rousse

Nicknamed "the hill that works", la Croix-Rousse used to be the district of the silk workers ("les canuts"), and is today a borough of Lyon where life is sweet and peaceful.
Its village atmosphere will seduce you with its parks, surprising spots, unusual strolls and its many shops.

Soierie Vivante, it’s two workshops in the heart of the Croix-Rousse: a municipal workshop of lace-making and a weaving workshop, both distant of 800 meters. This association safeguards the last two weavers workshops/Canuts homes belonging to the city of Lyon. A guided tour and a demonstration of the powered looms takes place throughout the year from Tuesday to Saturday: at 2pm and 4pm for the lace-making workshop and at 3pm and 5pm for the weaving workshop. A beautiful way to discover the history of the Croix-Rousse and the life of the silk weavers.
