North Loop

Nestled between Downtown Minneapolis and the Mississippi riverfront is a cultural hub where creatives, chefs, artists and entrepreneurs have gathered to hone their craft. Once home to booming warehouses, railroad yards and factories, the North Loop is now Minneapolis's fastest-growing neighborhood with many of its old industrial buildings converted to indie shops, trendy restaurants and sleek dwelling. As development has accelerated throughout the area, every day provides a new opportunity for discovery in this vibrant and gritty playground.

James & Marie Laurie Booksellers is the only bookstore in the North Loop and has an incredible selection of rare books, old cassettes and posters dating back to World War II. The husband-and-wife duo's collection is so immense that the books seem like they bubble up through the floor – this is not your neighborhood Barnes & Noble. There's also a secret basement with more vintage relics and a giant wall of classical and jazz vinyl records.
