Old Montréal West

The name says it all: Old Montreal is the city’s oldest neighbourhood, and with the patrimonial architecture to show it too. Walking through the cobblestone streets, you might see a film set simulating Paris or another European city. A touristic destination, Old Montreal is known for its vast number of galleries, boutiques and French bistros. These days, however, the neighbourhood is diversifying, as younger crowds of locals working in surrounding agencies flock to the many new trendy cafes and art centers.

Ateliers & Saveurs is the first cooking school in North America open for lunch: for just $22, you’ll spend half an hour cooking your food, half and hour eating it, and be back at the office just on time. The atelier also features more than just cooking classes, which range from Thai to Indian to pastry making: look out for the cocktail and wine tasting courses on offer, as well as a one-of-a-kind tapas class. Beautiful sconces and chandeliers made of kitchen utensils adorn the walls, and the space also offers a collection of gourmet syrups, mustards, oils and special kitchen gadgets for sale.
