Old Montréal West

The name says it all: Old Montreal is the city’s oldest neighbourhood, and with the patrimonial architecture to show it too. Walking through the cobblestone streets, you might see a film set simulating Paris or another European city. A touristic destination, Old Montreal is known for its vast number of galleries, boutiques and French bistros. These days, however, the neighbourhood is diversifying, as younger crowds of locals working in surrounding agencies flock to the many new trendy cafes and art centers.

A well-preserved heritage building transformed into an inviting café, Tommy’s owners aimed to create a friendly destination for the neighbourhood’s locals. From the original crown mouldings, to the mismatched mid-century modern furniture and eclectic decor (like a minimalist fixie surrounded by volumes of National Geographic, or a 5-pound gummy bear sitting amongst other oddities on a shelf), Tommy offers one of the most unique vibes in Old Montreal. The cafe serves daily breakfast, appéro from 4-8pm, weekend brunch, and you can even book it for private events. Grab a seat on the upper level if you can, to fully appreciate the cafe’s distinct decor and architecture.
