North Side

The North Side is an unsuspecting treasure trove of activities & places you never knew existed. If you're seeking that so-called "local” culture, look no further. The North Side area is home to some of the richest historical and cultural components of the Burgh. With well-preserved buildings dating back to the 1700's, the Mexican War Streets, Heinz Field, PNC Park, Deutschtown and at least a day's worth of museum hopping between the Warhol, Mattress Factory and others, the North Side is the perfect sightseeing destination for newcomers and residents alike.

Gus + Yiayia's

Fun Fact: April 24th was declared Gus + Yiayia day by the City Council. It was done to recognize the 80-plus-year-old owner, Gus, and his wife Stella who has served iceballs to the multiple generations of our city since 1934. Gus and the iconic rainbow umbrella stand can be found outside of Allegheny Center in warmer seasons, where he still serves with a welcoming smile on his face.
