Concordia

Over the past 10 years, Alberta street has transformed into an anchor of Northeast Portland. As galleries, shops, and restaurants fill the corridor between MLK and 33rd, the neighborhood hood has sprawled north up to Killingsworth. You can follow our guide, or just mosey up either of these streets and discover lots of Portland gems—Alberta is completely saturated with businesses, while you'll find our picks a bit more scattered along Killingsworth. We're particularly fond of Hat Yai's fried chicken and drinks at Wilder, but almost any place you walk into will do you just fine.

At first glance, Ampersand is a cool book shop with a tasteful collection of titles on photography, design, art, and the like. Look around a bit, and you’ll notice the shop walls serve as an art gallery showing work by contemporary artists. Look even further, and you’ll find books by Ampersand Editions, a small press that publishes books about the shows on the wall by the artists themselves. It’s right down the street from Monograph Bookwerks, making this section of Alberta excellent for book shopping. Make sure to stop by their sister shop, Cord, next door!
