Nestled inside the loop of a freeway offramp, this lush park is an unlikely feel-good story. It all started when one Potrero Hill couple planted a single flowering bush they rescued from the street. Inspired, another neighbor added a carload of her own plants—and kept adding. Volunteers and grant writers from the neighborhood joined the effort along the way, and today the garden is a community-maintained oasis filled with native and drought-tolerant species. In a city obsessed with technology, this garden is a welcome reminder that nature and human connection are still very much a part of who we are.
