With the Peak District for a back garden, Sheffield’s long been at the centre of the UK’s climbing community. Since the 90s, those gritstone and limestone crags at the city’s edges have been joined by a series of climbing walls at its centre. It all began with The Foundry: the UK’s first indoor climbing centre. The Foundry’s bouldering ‘Wave’ continues to test the strongest of elbows, while its kids’ circuit primes the next generation in the ways of the rock face. Photos by Will Roberts.
