Leslieville

Leslieville, just east of the Don River, began as an area known mainly for being the location for much of the city’s light industry. Naturally, it also became the residence for the many factory workers and their families. However, with the movement of industry to the cheaper rent and leases in the outskirts of town, the past 10 to 15 years has seen the neighbourhood rebuild itself as a place for families and their small businesses. Perennially referred to as an “up and coming neighbourhood” Leslieville continues to grow with locally-owned independent businesses and a strong sense of community.

Black Rooster Decor was, initially, an online shop. However, luckily for us, in 2014 came the complementary bricks and mortar store. Walking into their bright Queen Street East showroom you find a wide range of furniture, decor accessories, lighting, art, rugs, planter & plant arrangements and more. Owner Nina Ber-Donkor sources her items from around the world but also focuses upon similar small North American businesses. The beautiful planter & plant arrangements are created in-house!
