Leslieville

Leslieville, just east of the Don River, began as an area known mainly for being the location for much of the city’s light industry. Naturally, it also became the residence for the many factory workers and their families. However, with the movement of industry to the cheaper rent and leases in the outskirts of town, the past 10 to 15 years has seen the neighbourhood rebuild itself as a place for families and their small businesses. Perennially referred to as an “up and coming neighbourhood” Leslieville continues to grow with locally-owned independent businesses and a strong sense of community.

Hooked is a fantastic fish shop run by local chefs Kristin and Dan Donovan. Hooked sells solely 100% responsibly sourced fish and shellfish. The Donovans work directly with Great Lakes fishers and local fish farmers in order to vet quality and ethical impact. Brightly lit, the fresh fish and shellfish are displayed on sparkling beds of ice. Hooked also carries a variety of local produce and home-made soups and sauces. Not sure how to prepare your freshly caught dinner? Your delicious meal is just a couple of questions and answers away from the friendly and helpful Hooked staff.
