Founded in 2006, the Brownwood Park Community Garden helped usher Atlanta into the urban gardening movement. And having more than doubled in size since its inception, the garden continues to grow to meet East Atlanta’s fervor for cultivating and harvesting fresh, organic food. On a typical summer day you can find okra, peas, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, beans, grapes, strawberries, wild flowers, and more throughout the garden’s public and private plots. Cared for by a dedicated staff of community volunteers, the garden is a living testament to East Atlanta’s sustainable, ecologically mindful future.
