Poble Sec & Montjuïc

Poble Sec Montjuïc is an area of wonderful contrasts: On one hand there’s Poble Sec, a neighbourhood that feels like its own little town, where beer and tapas bars are nestled alongside beautiful local shops. On the other hand, there’s the mountain of Montjuïc, home to the Universal Expo of 1929 and the Olympic Games in 1992. Keep an eye out and you’ll find beautiful gardens perfect for sunbathing and a wealth of cultural activities.

The Castle of Montjuïc crowns the southwest part of the mountain and has some fantastic views over the city and the Mediterranean Sea. Dated back to the end of the seventeenth century, and, in spite of being the site for some of the blackest times in the city’s history, now is a great place to enjoy outdoor cinema during the summer nights or the different activities which they put out throughout the year. Our recommendation is to take the cable car from Barceloneta and go up from there!
