Charlottenburg

High-end boutiques, fine dining and elegant pre-war buildings are just a few things that make Charlottenburg such a charm. For those with less to splurge, the neighbourhood also offers up-and-coming Tokyo-style eateries, specialty cafes and indie shops that are definitely worth the visit.

Take a stroll around the 17th century castle and endless gardens that are especially impressive during the Summer months. Afterwards enjoy a coffee at Savignyplatz—a literary and performing arts hub pre-WWII—or perhaps an afternoon to shop the quaint boutiques nested outside the bustle of Kurfürstendamm.

For more than three decades Bücher Bogen has seen many changes to Savigny Platz. The shop’s grand arches and wide windows make it a true icon and pairs gritty Berlin with a classic European park vibe.

It opened in 1980 by the visionary Ruthild Spangenberg, a passionate book lover and wife of an inspiring architect. It's no question that the two had a vision with the space as it (and the books) encompass all things art, architecture and design. Today, Ruthild and her daughter run the shop, sharing their passion for books both new and out of print. Grab a book and enjoy reading it in the park right out front.
