Charlottenburg

High-end boutiques, fine dining and elegant pre-war buildings are just a few things that make Charlottenburg such a charm. For those with less to splurge, the neighbourhood also offers up-and-coming Tokyo-style eateries, specialty cafes and indie shops that are definitely worth the visit.

Take a stroll around the 17th century castle and endless gardens that are especially impressive during the Summer months. Afterwards enjoy a coffee at Savignyplatz—a literary and performing arts hub pre-WWII—or perhaps an afternoon to shop the quaint boutiques nested outside the bustle of Kurfürstendamm.

The original Café Kranzler was opened in 1894 and was known for its elevated sun terrace, smoking room, and ice cream parlour. Today it boasts an incredible view of Kurfürstendamm and on the right day, an opportunity to take in the rare German sun while drinking some of Berlin's finest direct trade specialty coffee.

If you're looking for a place to soak in some of the city and relax, get here early. The café fills up fast as its location is prime, the coffee is amazing, and the staff are friendly and eager to talk about all things coffee. Quite possibly the coolest café in Berlin when it comes to architectural dreaminess.
