It’s always nighttime in Montero’s with their nautical themed eclectic assortment of furnishings, glass-bricked bar, and all kinds of knick knacks adorning the walls. Beneath the neon-red sign is a gateway to a watering hole steeped in history and stories. Once upon a time the neighborhood was full of bars where off-duty longshoremen would come and drink after their shifts were up, but now Montero’s is the only remaining slice of that bygone era. Come here early to see if you can chat to owner Pepe Montero, or have a shot and share your troubles with the bar staff. They have karaoke every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
