Boricua! Just 4 miles west of downtown, Humboldt Park is a vibrant, simmering ethno-dimensional taco wrapped around a bustling 219-acre park. Historically diverse, culturally magnificent, with Scandinavian and Polish roots, Humboldt's now the beating heart of Chicago’s mighty Puerto Rican community. Suffice it to say, we’ve got it all: jibaritos, pierogis, ancient oaks, cold beer, cumbia, slow-pitch, good people.

A long abandoned and neglected scar etched across Chicago's Northwest side, the Bloomingdale Line was for years a hideaway for restless youth and the perpetually inebriated. With a $50 million federal grant and a little elbow grease, the city transformed the threadbare freight train tracks into a well-lit and landscaped public path stretching nearly three miles long. Though we're still working out some space-sharing etiquette, locals have taken to the trail en masse on bike and foot, with strollers and dogs and friends and gratitude for our very own scenic trail over here on the west side of the city.
