Boricua! Just 4 miles west of downtown, Humboldt Park is a vibrant, simmering ethno-dimensional taco wrapped around a bustling 219-acre park. Historically diverse, culturally magnificent, with Scandinavian and Polish roots, Humboldt's now the beating heart of Chicago’s mighty Puerto Rican community. Suffice it to say, we’ve got it all: jibaritos, pierogis, ancient oaks, cold beer, cumbia, slow-pitch, good people.
Equally stunning and decrepit.
Vegetarians and vegans rejoice! A spot made just for you, though even the carnivores line up for their meat-free take on classic sandwiches like bahn mi, jibaritos (though they're no Papa's), po' boys, tortas and one hell of a beet burger. The entrees are great, it's true, but the garlic smashed potatoes with country herb gravy are divine. Don't be shy with the gravy, it goes great with the fresh biscuits too. Just looking for something to sip on? Grab a seat at the bar and pick your poison from their impressive list of rotating drafts. The lighting is moody, the art deliciously weird, and the staff is fantastic and friendly.
