Humboldt Park

Boricua! Just 4 miles west of downtown, Humboldt Park is a vibrant, simmering ethno-dimensional taco wrapped around a bustling 219-acre park. Historically diverse, culturally magnificent, with Scandinavian and Polish roots, Humboldt's now the beating heart of Chicago’s mighty Puerto Rican community. Suffice it to say, we’ve got it all: jibaritos, pierogis, ancient oaks, cold beer, cumbia, slow-pitch, good people.

Not sure there's a pet store in Chicago with better designed regalia. For 25 years, they've been slinging the highest quality, healthy brands for your furry pals, and the space is abuzz with great vibes. Bright and full of cool vintage doo-dads, the shop also boasts big, beautiful backlit photo boxes of the most darling creatures. Don't let the name fool you, they carry plenty of goodness for your feline friends, too (not that your cat cares where you shop or if you live). We are especially down with their commitment to animals in need. The owners took over a massive warehouse to shelter fosters while they await their forever homes. Ooh, the feelings! Also not to be missed: sensibly-sized homemade cakes for your pooch, if you're in the mood (who are you kidding of course you are) to treat your little one to something special.
