The stadium had been a home for world famous Dynamo Kyiv football team until the club moved to Olimpiysky. It has seen a deathmatch during WWI when Luftwaffe officers squad was beaten by Dynamo players, that didn’t make the Nazis too happy. The square next to its entrance's colonnade saw bloody events in 2014, where the fist casualties of Revolution of Dignity came from.
