Welcome to Ljubljana, the tiny capital of Slovenia, conveniently placed between the Alps and the Mediterranean sea. It’s a humane city that's easy to get round as it has preserved its small-town friendliness and relaxed atmosphere while providing all the facilities of a modern capital. Best experienced on foot.
Regional street-art and beyond.
Saturday is The Day to visit Ljubljana’s Central Market. All the farmers come to sell their produce and the variety of fruits and vegetables is truly remarkable. Above all, there is a bakery that makes a historic dish, the food of workers and peasants ‒ Pogacha. It’s a sort of a “minimalist pizza” with only three toppings to choose from: bacon, vegetables or fresh cheese. If you’re in town on Saturday, try not to miss this bite from the past. Open until 2 pm.
