Carlton

Carlton is famous for its Italian eats, a history deeply rooted in the area from early days. But what makes Carlton a great spot is the combination of new and old, creating an interesting and diverse cultural precinct. Peruse the well-walked Lygon street or veer off and you might just stumble into some interesting spaces otherwise overlooked. With leafy, terrace-lined streets it's a beautiful area to take a morning stroll and admire the Victorian architecture and World Heritage listed sites, with coffee and croissant in hand no less.

This is a goodie. Opened in 1853, with over 300,000 burials since, Melbourne Cemetery is rich with history. Landscaped grounds and winding paths lead you through a diverse range of monuments, statues, chapels and even the Prime Ministers Garden! While some may think it's a little morbid, it's a very cool place to walk through and appreciate.
