Carlton

Carlton is famous for its Italian eats, a history deeply rooted in the area from early days. But what makes Carlton a great spot is the combination of new and old, creating an interesting and diverse cultural precinct. Peruse the well-walked Lygon street or veer off and you might just stumble into some interesting spaces otherwise overlooked. With leafy, terrace-lined streets it's a beautiful area to take a morning stroll and admire the Victorian architecture and World Heritage listed sites, with coffee and croissant in hand no less.

Technically Parkville...but we'll claim it too. The University of Melbourne spills out into surrounding areas with buildings from just about every era, each building connected by lush green lawn areas, paved walkways and beautiful big trees. It's worth a wander through, if not to attend class then to appreciate the vast size and presentation of the grounds.
