Richmond

With its outlook onto the Yarra River, the inner city suburb of Richmond is one of Melbourne’s oldest, yet still remains one of the liveliest. Boasting a rich cultural history of strong Greek roots, contrastingly the North of the suburb is best known as Melbourne’s Vietnamese district, often referred to as Little Saigon. Its diverse history of culture and industry form the backbone to this now gentrified precinct. Today, it is a hub for the creative industry, studios and fashion houses residing in the industrial backstreets of Richmond. Home to major commercial strips such as Swan St, Church St and Bridge Rd, Richmond boasts an eclectic range of eateries and nightlife. Take a stroll down these well-known strips or wander astray down unassuming side streets to stumble across something truly unique.
