Germantown

Germantown has always remained beautifully in motion. From its nineteenth-century heyday as abattoir-laden “Butchertown” to a modern-day mecca for global cuisine and creativity, one of Nashville’s newly swelling hotspots is also its oldest pin on the map. Located in the Farmer’s Market, this modest, counter-serve joint makes some of the most distinctive, authentically inspired meals in the city. Owner Ouida Bradshaw and son Kamal Kalokoh have one goal: serving joy through food. From the coconut delight (v) to jerk chicken to curry goat, they put heaps of heart into every recipe. One day on a whim, Kamal tracked down Drake, who was in town to play a show, fed him, and landed a gig as his tour chef. Later he became Rihanna’s personal chef. Lucky for Nashville, we can sample Kamal’s cuisine any time—no tour required.
