Barrio Logan has long been a colorful bastion for the working-class Mexican and Chicano community in San Diego. Today it still holds strong to these roots, while embracing and also resisting aspects of change. Despite hotly debated questions surrounding gentrification, Barrio Logan is rapidly being recognized for much more than the world-class murals painted on the undercarriage of the Coronado Bridge. Long gone are the days of Barrio Logan being perceived as a strictly Mexican and industrial neighborhood. Barrio now embraces an ethnically diverse group of residents, artists, businesses, and institutions.
A staple in Barrio for authentic homemade Mexican food. Everything about this place bursts with character. From the cafeteria style line wrapping out the door, to the ladies behind the counter energetically preparing food and exchanging with customers, to the oddly perfect decor, to the tortilla factory in the back.
