The things that make this neighborhood special are the same things that have kept the masses away for so many years. Criss-crossing train tracks. Planes roaring over rows of warehouses. A backdrop of shipping cranes. It's this timeless grit and industrial chic that has given rise to a flourishing community of restaurants, bars, breweries, art galleries, photo studios, and coffee shops. There is no veneer. It's as real as Seattle gets.
The Hat n' Boots is the true soul of the Georgetown neighborhood. Built in 1954, abandoned in 1988, and rescued from its near-demise in 2003, this gigantic restored icon now lives in Oxbow Park. Also home to a neighborhood P-Patch, the park captures the eclectic pride and close-knit nature of this community.
