Rough, off-beat and beautiful, Darlinghurst encapsulates urban life in Sydney. This whole-in-the-wall neighbourhood used to house Sydney's most infamous crime gang, the Razors. Today it offers some of the city's best small bars and Italian restaurants. If you're lucky, you can (probably) still grab a piccolo with Australia's version of Tony Soprano.
Get in early to grab a homemade cinnamon bun with a batch brew.
Fair prices, a back garden and BYO.
It's easy to lose track of time in here, so make sure you allow plenty of time to peruse the shelves!
You'll be intrigued by the apothecary-style bottles, antiques and nostalgic paraphernalia as you walk in. The bartenders are friendly and the cocktails unique – try the Darlinghurst Bicycle Club (featuring artichoke liquer) and the Long White Cloud (kiwi-fruit and ice cream – like a grown-up fizzy spider).
