North Center

The North Center neighborhood hearkens back to the time when every community had its own butcher, tailor, blacksmith and, it being Chicago, a brewery. It can feel a little off the beaten-path, but rest assured, it’s well worth the journey. There are plenty of old gems that make up some of the neighborhood's best kept secrets & just as many up-and-coming restaurants & shops you'll be happy to explore.

A trip to North Center isn’t complete without a stop to Dinkle’s. Dating back to 1922, Dinkle’s bakery garners a nostalgic nod to North Center’s past. Most of their sandwiches (The Woolwoth, The Rothchild, The Goldblatt, etc.) are named after anchor stores that once lined the street in that era. Their food is scrumptious and the quality of their ingredients is top notch. A large portion of their meat comes from the highly regarded Paulina Meat Market just up the street. Prices are affordable and service is quick (unless it’s the weekend, then you’ll want to grab a number). With nearly a century’s worth of business under their belt, it’s safe to say (at the very least), they're doing something right!
