Intendente & Anjos

For years the neglected child of central Lisbon, Intendente is enjoying a lively rebirth. Known for its rough edges, shady economic activities and its multicultural ambience, it's now embracing grit in a positive way. The neighborhood includes one of the city's biggest estates of late 19th century Portuguese-style architecture. Gentrification is well underway, but it is balanced with a thriving activist and cooperative scene. This unique national movement was reborn after the depression because the country's youth didn't give in under tough circumstances.

Largo Café

Largo is all about the arts and the local community. Besides the café, the upper floors of the building are occupied by artist residences that work seamlessly with the Intendente and adjacent Mouraria populations to bring cultural dynamics to a melting pot of a place that was afraid of showing off for years. Besides the huge movement during the day, its nights are even more diverse by spontaneously hosting parties ranging from capeverdian Mornas slow dancing to Bollywood-y dish spinning.
