You’re in the center of Lyon, Place des Terreaux, where tourists and locals mingle around the Bartholdi fountain. This large public square is surrounded by the City Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. Daniel Buren has marked some of his famous stripes, but time has done its work and the restoration of the square is a touchy matter. Dive into the small surrounding streets to find out the gems of this district, one of the densest in Europe. Strolling around, you will come across the Place Sathonay, the peaceful courtyard of the Museum of Fine Arts; Great restaurants; galleries and designer boutiques to check out. You’ll realize there is no reason to go to the square other than to use the metro.
A refuge of calm in the city.
Here heavy iron machinery and pixels get along.
It’s not a bistro nor a café; not a tea nor a coffee shop. Café Arsène is a bit of everything.
Alternatively club, bar, concert hall, La Maison Mère offers different faces according to the program. Open stage, Jazz concert in midweek, Hip-Hop or Electro evenings on weekends. For the rest: eclectic decor, faux fur and Bengal tigers as bonus. Photos by Jean-Charles-Dal-Ben.
