Full name: John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge...is a converted 1909 truss bridge that crosses the Cumberland River. Access starts at 3rd Avenue but there is also an ADA compliant elevator on 2nd. In the bridge's past life it was the Shelby Street Bridge or Shelby Avenue Bridge for cars. Now it's for foot access to the east side, Cumberland Park and Nissan Stadium. GO TITANS! This bridge is great for a leisurely stroll to clear your head or to hold a special someone's hand while you have nowhere to go. The bridge was closed for traffic in 1998 and reopened for people only traffic in 2003.
