St. Petersburg East

Downtown St. Petersburg is the city’s heart - chock full of independent boutiques, art galleries, museums, parks, and a food scene that can contend with the likes of this country’s metropolitan meccas. It is hard to believe that St. Petersburg was once known as, “Heaven’s Waiting Room.” Today, downtown St. Pete is a hub for creatives of all kinds, whether they are traditional artists, graphic designers, curators of local treasures, or chefs. Downtown St. Pete also houses some of Florida’s best craft breweries, a selection of some of the world’s best surrealist artwork (thank you, Salvador Dali), and so much more. The city cultivates a feeling of unprecedented growth, while maintaining the intimacy of a tight-knit local community. In short, there is nothing quite like it.

With over 42 murals scattered throughout downtown’s 600 Block, it is no wonder tourists and residents flock to the area so regularly. If you’re in the mood for exploring, you can take a guided walking tour throughout the Sunshine City, or discover them on your own! Local favorites include a gigantic red shark poised to take a bite out of passersby in the Central Arts District, as well as a jaw-dropping tribute to the legendary model, Twiggy, from the 1960s. For a more whimsical mural, be sure to check out Hipster on a Bike.
