During the 18th Century this area was called “The barn courtyard” and it was here the king grazed his cattle. Much has happened since then. Today Östermalm is the Upper East Side of Stockholm, where the rich and famous live. And it’s easy to tell by the area’s luxury shopping and dining. But it’s not all expensive – Östermalm is where you’ll find the best mid-range Swedish fashion brands and the beautiful national park Djurgården. It’s probably also where you’ll find yourself at 5am after a fun night out, since Stureplan is a hub for nightlife. So meet up with a friend at “Svampen” (the Mushroom) like a true Stockholmer and let the day begin!

When tired after a day of sightseeing and running around town an escape to Djurgårdens Rosendals Trädgård is a great choice. There you’ll be treated with an excellent variety of unpretentious organic dishes and beverages while surrounded by organic farming, green houses and a beautiful garden. When the sun is out it might be a bit crowded around lunchtime so get there early or late depending on your circadian rhythm.
