Redfern

No place comes without history, and Redfern certainly has its tales to tell. Dating all the way back to the 1850’s, and more recently in the 20’s, when there were big numbers of Aboriginal people who migrated to Redfern from remote areas for employment opportunities on the railways, Redfern has always been an urban meeting place for Indigenous Australians from all over the country. Sure, it doesn’t take much Googling to find some dark facts on the place, and there are reasons why some Sydney-siders feel a little hesitant to walk through some streets. Well, they can keep their tan lines, teeth whiteners and Aperol Spritz. Let us walk you through a few of our favourite places in this beautifully misunderstood neighbourhood called Redfern.

Redfern's very own cellar door. Housed in a restored warehouse on Everleigh St, they serve up their full range of wines, along with a selection of locally brewed beers, spirits and ciders. The menu is simple, with pizzas, cured meats and cheeses being the food of choice. They're big supporters of local music scene, so live music is a regular fixture for Friday and Saturday nights.
