Redfern

No place comes without history, and Redfern certainly has its tales to tell. Dating all the way back to the 1850’s, and more recently in the 20’s, when there were big numbers of Aboriginal people who migrated to Redfern from remote areas for employment opportunities on the railways, Redfern has always been an urban meeting place for Indigenous Australians from all over the country. Sure, it doesn’t take much Googling to find some dark facts on the place, and there are reasons why some Sydney-siders feel a little hesitant to walk through some streets. Well, they can keep their tan lines, teeth whiteners and Aperol Spritz. Let us walk you through a few of our favourite places in this beautifully misunderstood neighbourhood called Redfern.

Scout's Honour is basically as cute as the name suggests. Bright and cosy on the inside, chirpy staff and a whole heap of greenery scattered throughout. Breakfast and lunch is their thing and don't they do it well. Their breaky roll is second to none, and they also pour a mean coffee. But where they really make a name for themselves is their signature sandwiches. Can't go wrong with the beef brisket with zucchini pickles.
