Redfern

No place comes without history, and Redfern certainly has its tales to tell. Dating all the way back to the 1850’s, and more recently in the 20’s, when there were big numbers of Aboriginal people who migrated to Redfern from remote areas for employment opportunities on the railways, Redfern has always been an urban meeting place for Indigenous Australians from all over the country. Sure, it doesn’t take much Googling to find some dark facts on the place, and there are reasons why some Sydney-siders feel a little hesitant to walk through some streets. Well, they can keep their tan lines, teeth whiteners and Aperol Spritz. Let us walk you through a few of our favourite places in this beautifully misunderstood neighbourhood called Redfern.

Being conveniently located next door to the studio, we've really lucked out with this one. Great coffee, tasty food and relatively wallet friendly. Big ticks all round! These guys serve all your go-to breakfast and lunch staples, but the real star of the show is their signature Narnies, which are a different take on the humble sandwich and come wrapped in homemade flatbread (think Indian Naan). There's a trio of fillings to choose from, but the pick of the bunch is the duck narnie.
