Gowanus is best known for the canal that flows through its heart, which happens to be one of the most polluted waterways in the world. The neighborhood around it, however, is one of the most vital and up-and-coming neighborhoods in Brooklyn: a magnet for artists, delicious food, and creative businesses.
Comfort Noodles
Just across the street from our office, this slightly-nautical themed neighborhood bar is our first stop for a classic cocktail and a bite. The vibe is classy but totally relaxed, with comfy chairs, a pool table and Brooklynites nursing Manhattans. You can come in the afternoon and use the free wifi, or stay late to play a tipsy round of jenga. Somehow they've figured out how to cook an egg in a cup made of bacon.
